Το φαράγγι του Σεληνάρη βρίσκεται περίπου 45km ανατολικά του Ηρακλείου και 21km δυτικά του Αγίου Νικολάου, στις ανατολικές πλαγιές της Σελένας. Είναι πολύ γνωστό σε όλους τους Κρητικούς, καθώς μέσα από το φαράγγι διέρχεται η Εθνική Οδός Ηρακλείου-Αγίου Νικολάου, ενώ επίσης το φαράγγι ιστορικά αποτελούσε το φυσικό πέρασμα από την περιοχή του Λασιθίου προς το Ηράκλειο.
The monastery of Saint Panteleimon is located 25km west of Heraklion and 3km south of Fodele, in a wooded area of orange and olive groves. The monastery was built with fortress architecture. Today a part of the walls and the beautiful entrance to the monastery are preserved.
The monastery of Agia Marina is located 500m south of the village of Voni and during its feast day (July 17) huge crowds arrive from all over Greece. The number of people arriving at Agia Marina is the highest in Crete, with car queues of many kilometers.
Up to the present day, the famous Cretan costume is still worn in some villages as men's everyday wear. It is also worn by men and women on the occasion of traditional celebrations.The arts of weaving and embroidering are combined in the costumes.
According to the inscription, which has been preserved on the frontal support of the belfry, the church was built in 1587 that is during the period of the Venetian occupation on Crete. This explains the plethora of architectural elements of the Renaissance, which the visitor will notice at first sight.
Orthi Ammos is one spectacular sandy and shallow beach, next to Frangokastelo, located 80km south of Chania, at the edge of a big valley with very warm climate. The area is not overdeveloped, in contrary to the touristic area of Frangokastelo.
